Privacy policy

Eclataur LLC (doing business as ÉCLATAUR) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit eclataur.com and buy our products.

We are based in Sunnyvale, Texas, and this policy is governed by United States federal law and the laws of the State of Texas.

We collect what you give us voluntarily, and a small amount that is gathered automatically when you use the site.

A. Personal data you provide

When you buy a product, subscribe to the newsletter, request a tester from The Prelude, or contact support, we may collect:

• Identity data: first name, last name.
• Contact data: email address, phone number, shipping address, billing address.
• Transaction data: details of payments to and from you. We do not store card numbers. Payments are processed directly by Stripe or PayPal.
• Profile data: your password, purchase history, fragrance preferences, and tester selections, if you create an account.

B. Automatically collected data

This site sets no cookies of its own, and analytics runs only if you agree to it, so there is far less of this than on a typical store. What we may collect:

• Analytics data (only with your consent): we use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages are read, where visitors come from, and how the shop is used: which fragrances are viewed, added to the cart, and bought. It loads only after you choose Accept on the consent bar; choose Decline and it never loads at all, and the site works identically. Analytics never receives your name, email, or payment details.
• Page-speed measurements (no consent needed, because nothing is stored): Cloudflare Web Analytics records how quickly pages load for real visitors. It sets no cookie, keeps nothing on your device, and identifies no one; it sees the page's address and its timings, nothing about you.

What remains regardless is the ordinary server and edge logging needed to serve and protect the site:

• Request data: IP address, browser and device characteristics, and referring URL, logged by our host and by Cloudflare for security, abuse prevention, and diagnosing faults.
• Local storage: your cart reference, your wishlist and recently viewed fragrances, and, if you sign in, your access token, all held on your own device. See ourCookie Policy for the complete list and how to clear it.

Ask the perfumer. On The Prelude page you may tell the perfumer what you are looking for. We keep what you write, your first name and your email address with your request, send you an acknowledgment with a reference, and answer by hand from the house's mailbox. Your address is used for that answer and nothing else: asking does not join you to the newsletter or any other list. You can ask us to delete a request at any time.

Your wearing week. A tester tray comes with a private page, opened by the code on the card in your box or the link in your shipping email, with no account needed. If you use it, we keep the marks you make (favourite, try again, not for me) and any note you write to yourself, against that order. Your notes are for you: no screen at the house shows them, and they are never published, exported or used for marketing. The page shows what your Prelude credit buys, never its code, and no address or payment detail. It closes 180 days after the order, or at once if the order is cancelled or refunded, and you can ask us to delete its contents at any time. If you tick the offer on that page, we send three short notes about wearing your testers, around day 4, day 10 and day 21; every tray that ships also receives the day 21 note, once. Each carries a one-click unsubscribe, none carries a discount, and they stop the day you order a bottle.

A tray for a friend. If you send a tester tray to a friend, we keep their name, delivery address and email address with your order, with your name and the note you wrote for the card. We use their address once, to tell them the tray has left, with the page for their testers and a Prelude credit in their name. They are not added to the newsletter or any other list, and we do not write to them again unless they ask on that page. Please send a tray only to someone you know would welcome it.

• To fulfil orders: process payment, arrange ground shipping, and send you confirmations and tracking.
• To communicate: send transactional email and, if you have opted in, marketing about new releases, Édition Limitée launches, and tester offers.
• For safety and compliance: verify shipping addresses against hazardous materials rules, and screen for fraud.
• To improve the site: diagnose faults and improve performance and product discovery.

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal data to independent third parties for their own marketing. We share it only with these categories of trusted provider:

A. Service providers

• Commerce platform: our own self-hosted Medusa commerce server, which holds orders, carts, and customer accounts.
• Payment processors: Stripe and PayPal, to take payment securely.
• Shipping carriers: USPS and UPS, to deliver your order.
• Transactional and marketing email: Resend, to deliver order confirmations, shipping notifications, and newsletters.
• Hosting and delivery: Cloudflare, which serves the storefront, and Hostinger, which hosts the commerce server.
• Analytics: Google Analytics 4, and only with your consent. Google acts as its own data controller for the measurement data, under its own policies.

B. Affiliates and sister brands

We may share your information with our sister brand Fragror, operated by our distributor Evenore Solutions LLC, to offer complementary home fragrance products such as diffusers and home fragrance oils. You can always unsubscribe from those communications specifically.

C. Legal obligations

We may disclose your information where legally required, to comply with applicable law, a governmental request, judicial proceedings, a court order, or legal process.

A. Consent

By entering your email address at checkout or subscribing through our newsletter form, you consent to receive marketing from ÉCLATAUR.

B. Opting out

You can unsubscribe at any time through the link in any marketing email, or by writing to support@eclataur.com.

Opting out of marketing does not stop necessary transactional email: order confirmations, shipping notifications, and account updates will still reach you.

We use administrative, technical, and physical measures to protect your personal information.

• All traffic to this site is encrypted in transit with TLS.
• Payments are handled by Stripe and PayPal, both PCI DSS Level 1 certified providers. Card details go directly to the processor and never reach our servers, which means there is no card data here to lose.
• Access to personal data is restricted to the people who need it to fulfil your order.

We should be honest about the limit of this: while we take reasonable steps to secure what you give us, no security measure is perfect and no transmission method can be guaranteed against interception.

• Access: you may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Correction: you may ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
• Deletion: you may ask us to delete your personal data, subject to our need to retain transaction records for tax, accounting, and legal purposes.
• Opting out: you may withdraw from marketing at any time.

This site may link to other websites we do not operate, including our sister brand Fragror. This policy does not cover the practices of any third party, and we would encourage you to read the privacy policy of any site you go on to use.

Our services are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without verified parental consent, we will remove it from our systems.

We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or for operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
